caution Differentiate the bleeding first: this warm herb, which partly moves stasis, fits dark or clotted blood, while profuse bright red bleeding with Heat signs calls instead for a cooling hemostatic, for example Da Ji or Ce Bai Ye
pregnancy Pregnancy: use under a qualified practitioner, since the raw form moves Blood; the charred form is more purely astringent
caution No distinct toxic dose has been reported; without practitioner guidance, stay within standard ranges
