Zhu Sha Gen (朱砂根) is the root of coral ardisia, recorded as Radix Ardisiae Crenatae. It is bitter and acrid in flavour and cool in temperature, entering the Lung and Liver channels. Despite the shared characters it is unrelated to Zhu Sha, cinnabar.
