contraindication Yin deficiency, a dry cough or coughing up blood; warm, aromatic and drying, it consumes fluids, and more so than Chen Pi
contraindication Cough from Heat-Phlegm or dry Phlegm, with scanty, thick, yellow or blood-streaked sputum; it suits only abundant white, sticky Damp-Phlegm
caution Qi deficiency with no stagnation, where there is nothing for a dispersing herb to move

Medicines cleared by CYP3A4 with a narrow therapeutic margin: no interaction is documented for this herb, and tangerine-type citrus is low in the grapefruit-type compounds; the stronger concern is the look-alike Hua Ju Hong, a pomelo peel rich in naringin. Anyone on such a drug should mention any citrus-based herbal remedy to the prescribing doctor (precautionary)
