caution Ban Xia is toxic raw and Dan Nan Xing must be properly bile-processed; use only correctly processed herbs
caution Under the Eighteen Incompatibles, keep Ban Xia apart from Wu Tou, Fu Zi and other aconites
contraindication Avoid or modify in Yin or fluid deficiency, dryness, or when there is little or no Phlegm; the drying herbs can worsen a dry mouth, dry cough or constipation
caution Supports recovery after Wind-stroke but does not replace emergency assessment and medical treatment of stroke
