caution Differentiate carefully: its use is supported by pale, thin blood, cold hands and feet, a pale tongue and wanting warmth; bright red blood with Heat signs points elsewhere
pregnancy Interior-warming herbs are used cautiously in pregnancy and only under a qualified practitioner
caution Unexplained uterine, rectal or postpartum bleeding needs medical assessment rather than self-treatment

Drug interactions

Warfarin and other anticoagulants: the evidence concerns ginger in general and is weak and inconsistent; one controlled volunteer study found no effect on warfarin, while a single case report described excessive anticoagulation with phenprocoumon. Patients should tell their prescriber about ginger-containing formulas
