contraindication Swellings that develop slowly and have not yet come to a head
contraindication Cold from deficiency, with loose stools, poor appetite, aversion to cold or a weak digestion, which this cold, bitter herb weakens further
caution Yin-type sores: chronic, cold, non-inflamed or deficient sores and ulcers do not match its pattern
caution Not for prolonged use; it is meant for acute, hot, toxic conditions
caution The name Di Ding covers several unrelated plants, so confirm the botanical source of any product
pregnancy No traditional contraindication in pregnancy, but as a strongly cold herb it should be used under a qualified practitioner
