Moistens the Intestines and promotes bowel movement

Dryness of the Intestines from deficient Blood and fluids, common in the elderly, after childbirth and in convalescence from fever, illness, surgery or blood loss
Hard, dry stools passed seldom and with difficulty, but without the strong straining or cramping of excess-Heat constipation; sometimes the stools are dry yet not hard to pass
Habitual, often severe constipation; causes include overwork or faulty eating, Wind-Heat that has got into the Intestines and harmed Spleen and Stomach, and Lung and Intestine Heat that burns up the fluids

Nourishes and invigorates the Blood

Deficient Blood with stasis and internal Wind from Blood deficiency
Palpitations and dizziness, with a pale or sallow face
Dull skin and nails; dry mouth and a thirst that is not quenched

caution It eases dry stools while the root deficiency of Blood and fluids is treated in its own right; not meant as a laxative taken every day without end
caution With anticoagulant or antiplatelet medicines: Tao Ren and Dang Gui invigorate the Blood, so check with a qualified practitioner and the prescribing doctor first
pregnancy Contains Tao Ren and Dang Gui, which move the Blood; use with caution in pregnancy and only under professional guidance

Preparation
