Cautions

caution Yin deficiency without Damp-Heat, where fluids are already depleted and there is nothing to drain
caution Deficiency Cold in the Lower Jiao, which its slightly cold nature does not suit
pregnancy No specific contraindication, but as with any diuretic herb, use in pregnancy under professional supervision
caution Blood in the urine or suspected urinary stones need medical assessment
caution Use correctly identified material, as several look-alike species are sold
