caution Ma Dou Ling contains aristolochic acid, a kidney toxin and known human carcinogen restricted or banned in many countries; it is generally omitted or replaced, for example with Sang Bai Pi
caution Weak Spleen and Stomach: the rich, cloying E Jiao can reduce appetite or add to Damp, so use with care or modify
