Actions and indications

Dispels Wind and eliminates Cold-Damp

Wind-Cold-Damp painful obstruction with Liver and Kidney deficiency
Joint pain that moves about, mostly in the wrists, elbows, knees and ankles, with chills and fever
Tongue pink, pale and swollen, or red, with a thin or greasy white coat; pulse floating and tight, deep and thin, deep and weak, or deep, slow and weak

Tonifies and moves Qi and Blood

Musculoskeletal disorders arising from severe deficiency of Qi and Blood
Dysenteric Wind (Li Feng): legs so sore and weak after dysentery that walking is hard
Hemiplegia, nerve pain, dizziness, tinnitus and a stifling feeling in the chest

Tonifies Yang and strengthens muscles, sinews and bones

Crane's knee Wind: one or both knees swollen, enlarged, stiff and painful, with wasting of the muscles above and below and restricted movement or paralysis
Pain and numbness through the legs, with wasting of the leg muscles
Feet that are paralysed, stiff, swollen and painful
