Cautions

contraindication Summerheat mixed with Damp, shown by bloating, heaviness, poor appetite and a thick, greasy coat: Mai Men Dong, Shi Hu and Xi Yang Shen, which nourish Yin, can make the Damp worse; modify it or choose a Damp-resolving formula
contraindication Early exterior conditions where Qi and fluids are not yet depleted
contraindication Patients without an external pathogen
caution The formula leans cool overall and does not suit cold or Yang-deficient constitutions; Huang Lian is kept small so that it does not harm the Stomach
