Cautions

contraindication A restless fetus or bleeding that comes from Heat or from stagnation rather than Kidney deficiency; its warm, binding tonics can make a Heat pattern (bright red bleeding, thirst, red tongue) or stagnation worse
pregnancy Any bleeding in pregnancy needs prompt obstetric assessment; the formula is used alongside medical monitoring and care, not in place of it
pregnancy Dose and duration in pregnancy should be set and supervised by a qualified practitioner together with prenatal care
caution E Jiao is donkey-hide gelatin: relevant to anyone avoiding animal products, and its sourcing and authenticity are a concern
