  Early external invasion of Wind-Cold

  Early stage colds.

Cautions

• contraindication Sweating that is already present, including spontaneous sweating and Exterior deficiency with heavy sweat (Tai Yang Zhong Feng), since the herb opens the surface further
• caution Yin deficiency with Yang in excess
• contraindication Heat patterns, such as a Wind-Heat cold with fever and sore throat, for which a pungent warm herb is unsuitable
• caution Large medicinal doses can bring on stomach irritation, hemorrhoids, headache and fever; everyday culinary amounts are simply food
• caution Overuse can harm the hair of the scalp and beard, and can cause confusion as Deficiency Heat from depleted Yin rises
• caution Allium allergy, which is uncommon but does occur
