Actions and indications

Astringes the Intestines, supplements Qi and stops diarrhea

  • Unremitting chronic diarrhea, often with undigested food, from Deficiency Cold or Qi deficiency with Cold, with lethargy, weakness and dull abdominal pain
  • Chronic dysentery, with blood and mucus passed in the stool
  • Prolapse of the rectum when Spleen Qi is weak

Contains the Blood and stops bleeding

  • Bleeding from Cold in the Lower Jiao with Kidney and Liver deficiency: uterine bleeding, heavy periods, spotting between periods, blood in the stool, or a bleeding prolapsed rectum
  • Bleeding from injury, applied topically

Generates flesh and promotes healing of wounds and sores (topical)
