contraindication Dysentery from Damp-Heat, or acute dysentery with bright red blood, foul odour, tenesmus or fever; an astringent can trap the pathogen
caution Have bloody or lasting diarrhea checked by a doctor before using it: cancer, ischemic colitis, inflammatory bowel disease and infection need ruling out
pregnancy Use in pregnancy only under professional guidance
caution Chi Shi Zhi is a mineral; its sourcing and use should follow a qualified practitioner

Preparation

Decoction with the chief mineral split: part of the Chi Shi Zhi is cooked with Gan Jiang and Geng Mi, the rest is powdered and stirred into the strained liquid before drinking; taken in divided portions and stopped once the diarrhea ends
