Tian Hua Fen (天花粉) is the root of the snakegourd, recorded as Radix Trichosanthis. It is bitter and slightly sweet in flavour and cold in temperature, entering the Lung and Stomach channels. Wasting and thirsting disorder; fluids damaged by warm febrile disease, leaving thirst and irritability
Heat damaging the fluids, with irritability and thirst

Stomach Heat damaging Yin, with great thirst, a dry mouth, irritability, hunger soon after eating and emaciation, as often seen in diabetes
Lung and Stomach Yin Deficiency with rising Heat, causing thirst, irritability and mental confusion; goiter from knotted Phlegm-Heat

Phlegm-Heat in the Lungs with cough and thick, sticky or blood-streaked sputum; Lung Heat with dry cough
After a febrile disease, a dry cough or one with little sputum, with thirst and a stifling feeling in the chest
sha shen + mai men dong + lu gen
Thirst in febrile disease.
jin yin hua + zhe bei mu + zao jiao ci
Reduces swelling and pus.
lian qiao + pu gong ying + chuan bei mu + jin yin hua
Boils and carbuncles.
Breast abscess, taken internally and applied topically
chuan shan jia + zao jiao ci + jin yin hua
Yang-type abscess of the breast or Intestines
mai men dong + zhi mu + wu wei zi
Lung and Stomach Heat with Dryness; upper Xiao Ke with great thirst and heavy drinking of water
shi hu + yu zhu + mai men dong
Dryness with irritability.
sheng di huang + shi gao + zhi mu + shan yao + wu wei zi
Hyperthyroidism; Xiao Ke (wasting and thirsting)
Applied topically to abscesses that have not ulcerated or become necrotic
ru xiang + gua lou + bai zhi + zhe bei mu + pu gong ying
