contraindication Meant for Wind from excess Liver Yang and Heat; not for internal Wind arising mainly from deficient Blood or Yin (for example a pale tongue and thin pulse without Heat signs), which needs direct tonifying instead
pregnancy Holds Blood-moving herbs (Yi Mu Cao, Chuan Niu Xi); use with care in pregnancy
caution Eclampsia and hemiplegia are emergencies (seizures in pregnancy, stroke) needing immediate medical care, and hypertension and trigeminal neuralgia need medical diagnosis and management; the formula is used only alongside that care, never in place of it
caution Long-term use, or changing and choosing the herbs oneself, should be left to a qualified practitioner

Water decoction; Shi Jue Ming is simmered on its own first, and Gou Teng goes in only for the last few minutes
