Disperses Wind-Heat and releases the Exterior

  • Early stage of Wind-Heat invading the Lungs, with cough as the main complaint and only mild surface Heat
  • Low fever with some sweating, mild chills and dislike of wind
  • Headache, dizziness and vertigo
  • Eyes red and painful, sensitive to light
  • Nose blocked or running with thick yellow mucus
  • Wei-stage Dry Heat in warm disease; Summerheat with Damp; Damp-Heat
  • Tongue with a red tip and a thin white or yellow coat; pulse floating and rapid

Clears the Lungs and stops cough

  • Cough, dry or with little phlegm, or bringing up thick, sticky yellow sputum
  • Throat red, swollen and sore, or only slightly sore and itchy
  • Mild thirst with a wish for cold drinks
  • Possible chest pain, or breathlessness with flaring nostrils
