caution A strongly cold, dispersing formula for genuine excess Fire toxin; give it in a short acute course and stop once the toxin has cleared, not as long-term treatment
pregnancy Pregnancy: only with professional supervision, because Chai Hu and Sheng Ma raise and disperse and the formula is strongly bitter and cold

Originally a powder, stirred into boiled water or green tea and sipped; today mostly decocted, adding Bo He late in the boil
