Cautions

contraindication Not for Excess patterns

contraindication Not during an active external invasion (new chills and fever, nasal congestion, a floating pulse), since firming the Exterior can trap the pathogen inside

contraindication Not for night sweating from Yin Deficiency with Empty Heat, where sweating comes in sleep with heat signs and a red tongue

caution Use cautiously, if at all, where Damp-Heat or excess Heat dominates (thick yellow coat, marked thirst, fullness with heat), as the warm tonics may feed the excess

caution Professional guidance is advised alongside any diagnosed medical condition, including autoimmune conditions, given the immune-modulating action attributed to Huang Qi

pregnancy Use in pregnancy under professional guidance

paediatric Use in children under professional guidance
